The Army offers a wide range of welfare services for its Regular, Reserve, Civilian and Contractor personnel. This ranges from financial, medical, wellbeing, and family support. The pages below provide further information on the options available including Unit Welfare Support, Army Welfare Service, Army Related Charities, and support for Civil Servants.

Unit Welfare Support

Unit Welfare Support is the provision of support generally available from within unit resources. Unit welfare specialists will identify, advise, assist, and refer service personnel and their families based on their welfare needs.

In the case of an emergency, please contact 999 in the first instance or if you experience a serious illness or death in your family, you should call Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre (JCCC) on 01452 519951.

Army Welfare Service

The Army Welfare Service (AWS) provides secondary/specialist welfare support, responsive to the needs of individuals, families and the Chain of Command.

Trained staff are able to deal with more complex personal and/or family issues that cannot be dealt with at unit level or require extensive ongoing support.

MOD, corporate, charitable, and voluntary organisations

Ministry of Defence (MOD). This level of support includes organisations such as the Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre (JCCC), Forces Line (FL), VWS, Vets UK and the Defence Children Services (DCS).
