Primary-level support can be given by Commanding Officers, their Chain of Command and the unit administrative and welfare staff including pastoral and medical personnel. Unit welfare specialists will identify, advise, assist, and refer Service Personnel and their families based on their welfare needs.
Trained Unit specialists include:
- Unit Welfare Officers and Unit Welfare Warrant Officers/Senior Non-Commissioned Officers of Regular Army units that form a Unit Welfare Team.
- Regimental Operations Support Officers and Regimental Operations Support Warrant Officers in Reserve Army units.
- Regimental Career Management Officers.
- Army and/or civilian Chaplains.
- Regimental Medical Officers.
- WRVS and HIVE (where available).
Service Personnel and their families are encouraged to seek practical help and advice at the earliest opportunity through the Chain of Command or directly through unit welfare staff.
Unit Welfare Teams also maintain a close working relationship with specialist welfare organisations granting suitable access where required.
