The Regiment is organised into five Squadrons:
- 200 Headquarters Squadron based in Peterborough
- 201 Squadron - Bedford and Luton
- 202 Squadron - Ipswich and Colchester
- 261 Squadron – Milton Keynes
- 294 Squadron – Grantham
The Headquarters Squadron consists of all elements required to support the single supply and three transport squadrons. This includes: communications operators, catering support, HR and physical training specialists. We continue to develop a good relationship with both our paired Regular Regiment, 1 Regiment RLC, as well as 7 Battalion REME, to whom we would work with if deployed on operations with 1 Aviation BCT.
Officers and soldiers of 158 Regiment RLC are experts in logistics. Equally as comfortable on foot as they are at the wheel of a MAN SV 6 tonne truck, their versatility means they find themselves supporting 1 Aviation BCT in many different roles, including:
-
Driving MAN Logistic Support Vehicles, including 6 tonne cargo/flat platform and the Enhanced Pallet Load System (EPLS) off road.
- Training soldiers to acquire their Category B and C vehicle licences.
- Communicating with specialist radios.
- Commanding from the front.
- Making judgement calls in tough situations.
Every operation and exercise, no matter where it is in the world, is supported by the RLC Regular and Reserve Units, including members of 158 Regiment RLC. Our team of specialist tradespeople are able to operate a wide range of logistic vehicles and equipment, including:
- MAN Logistic Support Vehicles (MAN SV) – 6, 9 and 15-tonne variants
- Land Rover TUM, TUL and FFR
- Forklifts
- Close Support Tanker (CST)
The Regiment employs Regular and Reservist soldiers in various trades from across the RLC. Trained as soldiers first, they then develop a wide range of specialist skills through their individual trades; most of which are directly transferable into the civilian workplace. These trades include:
We also employ Officers who train at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) and personnel from the following cap badges: Royal Army Medical Service (RAMS) and Adjutant General's Corps (AGC(SPS)).
Sergeant Lee Benedetti
Upon completing 24 years with the regular army in June 2018, I transferred to 254 Medical Regiment, 250 Med Sqn based in Hull as the RLC section commander. Whilst serving with the medics my role was to oversee the Military Transport, being responsible for the upkeep of their vehicle fleet and the management of all fleet taskings.
During this period Covid struck and I was mobilised to DST Leconfield to conduct driver training. This ended towards the end of 2021 where I was then tasked to conduct driver training for 102 Log Brigade in Grantham.
After the reserves went through a general reshuffle, and due to my Regiment being moved to another brigade, I transferred to 150 Regiment, 160 Sqn RLC.
In October 2023 I was successfully selected to the rank of Sgt and completed my ALDP in May 2024 however, due to changes within the Brigade I had to again transfer regiment to be able to continue delivering brigade level driver training. In May 2024 I transferred to 158 Regt RLC 200 Sqn, which is my current unit.
During all the time spent delivering driver training I also attended all the training events during regimental weekends with all three Regiments.
I remain a dedicated member of the Army Reserve and recommend to all reading this that they at least give the reserves a strong consideration to join.

Sporting Opportunities
Sports and Adventurous Training are a big part of regimental life and all personnel are encouraged to take part in various activities while serving in 158 Regiment RLC. In 2020, we are proud that members of the regiment travelled to Ruhpolding in Germany to take part in the RLC skiing competition.
We also take part in other sports such as: caving, hill walking, mountain biking and kayaking - all designed to challenge and take you out of your comfort zone.

Private Shannon Conway
I served for four years in the Regular Army as a Combat Medical Technician with much of my time being based in Germany. I left the regulars to pursue my dream of becoming a full-time paramedic and I am currently an Emergency Medical Ambulance Technician with East Midlands and will start my paramedic degree next year. After leaving, I missed the friendships and camaraderie of being in the Army, so I was delighted to find out I could still be a medic attached to The Royal Logistic Corps within 158 Regiment RLC.
Since re-joining, I have run several Team Medic Courses and deployed on a large-scale logistical exercise called Exercise Halberd Dawn where I was involved in assessing medical serials for exercising personnel, delivering effective feedback and coaching to individuals, as well as providing real time medical support. Joining the Reserves has definitely been one of the best decisions I’ve made.
