Lance Corporal Gurung – Logistic Supply Specialist

As a Logistic Supply Specialist, I am responsible for ensuring that vital stock and equipment is supplied to the British Army. My job includes categorising the incoming packages for delivery to departments within my Regiment and to other Regiments within our Brigade to ensure that their equipment is kept ready for the fight. Over the course of my career, I have deployed on overseas operations and exercises in Cyprus and Kenya as well as various UK operations and tasks. During these deployments, I have gained experience, tested my trade knowledge and learnt new skills. Outside my daily role, I have competed in team sports such as cricket and football for the Regiment. As a Lance Corporal, I am also responsible for coaching and mentoring my more junior colleagues, so it fills me with pride when they perform well. I am always looking forward to the next challenge that lies ahead.

Sporting Opportunities

1 Regiment RLC has a strong reputation for sporting success across the Corps. Our soldiers proudly represent the Regiment, Corps, Army, and Combined Services. We promote a ‘sport for all’ ethos, encouraging participation at all levels. The Regiment offers clubs for rugby, swimming, athletics, cricket, boxing, triathlon, hockey, football, and more. Recent achievements include winning the RLC Cricket Inter Unit Championship, RLC triathlon champions, competing in the Braemar Games Tug of War, and earning the 2023/24 RLC Pioneer Spirit Award. Our proudest moment was winning the 2024 Army Sports Trophy for the unit with the highest participation in sports across the Army.

Private Hobday-Marriott - Driver

Since posting into 1 Regiment RLC in November 2021, I have been fortunate enough to deploy as a driver on numerous overseas exercises and operations. I have deployed to Canada, Germany and Romania, working as a driver and in other roles to sustain and support numerous units.

Outside of the regular pattern of life, I have been skiing with the Regiment twice, competing in the RLC Corps Championships in Norway. One of my proudest moments has been representing the Regiment in Boxing. This year, I was delighted to be selected for promotion to Lance Corporal and look forward to the leadership challenges that lie ahead.
