Corporal Nanda Atherton
"I joined the British Army to gain an education, secure a stable income, and establish a roof over my head.
What began as a plan to stay for just four years has grown into nearly twelve.
I’m still here, still progressing, and still proving what’s possible."
“I became a mother at 17. Many assumed my future was over, that I’d spend my life at home, dependent on benefits. Those assumptions motivated me deeply. I was determined to prove not only them wrong, but myself right. I could achieve far more than the stereotype of a young mum.”
