Army innovation

Innovation

The Army Innovation branch houses the Army’s solutions accelerator for delivering novel approaches and new technology into the hands of the user at pace.

Its role is threefold:

  • Enable the Army to test new and novel ideas, collecting evidence to allow capability sponsors to make informed decisions at the balance of investment stage.
  • Provide an alternative pathway for the Army to test and develop those new ideas that, due to the pace of technological change, have not been considered by the normal procurement process.
  • Link the Army to those developing new and novel solutions to our problems, to the end user, and to those who are nearest the problems and best placed to offer development advice. This includes areas of common interest across Defence.

Defence BattleLab

The Army is proud to be part of the BattleLab, a collaborative environment in partnership with Dorset Council, The Ministry of Defence (MOD) and Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership (DLEP). The BattleLab is an opportunity for Defence problems to collide with industry solutions, an environment for academics, innovators and end users to ideate, fail fast and succeed sooner.
