Sandhurst Medal

The History of the Sandhurst Medal

The Sandhurst Medal was introduced in 2016 to recognise the extraordinary achievement of those International Students who successfully complete the Commissioning Course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. The recipients of the Sandhurst Medal join an esteemed list of over 5200 International Alumni from over 129 different countries. Recipients also receive open membership of the Sandhurst Trust which enables them to keep in touch with the Academy and the friends they made whilst on the course.

The Sandhurst Medal is fully approved by the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence and is designed to be worn on the uniform of the recipient to show that they have successfully completed the very challenging 44-weeks Regular Commissioning Course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, United Kingdom.

The Sandhurst Trust

Originally set up in 2003 to promote leadership at the Royal Military Academy, the Sandhurst Trust subsequently expanded its reach in 2014 to satisfy the need for a support network for Officer Cadets, serving and retired Army Officers.

As the only organisation linking all serving and former Army Officers, the Sandhurst Trust alumni community is built on a common bond of loyalty, trust and belonging.

Since 2017, alumni who commissioned before 2016 have been able to purchase the Sandhurst Medal from the Sandhurst Trust.
