In a second visit to members of The Royal Regiment of Scotland in less than two months, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal visited the 3rd Battalion (3 SCOTS), based in Fort George, yesterday (10 December).
Her Royal Highness Princess Anne is welcomed to Fort George by the Commanding Officer 3 SCOTS, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Smith and Major General Robin Lindsay.

3 SCOTS is an infantry battalion commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Rob Smith and Her Royal Highness is the Deputy Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Regiment of Scotland.
"Today we recognise the operational excellence of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland, and the significant contribution that the individuals of the battalion have made over a busy period."
On arrival at Fort George, Her Royal Highness was met by the Colonel of The Royal Regiment of Scotland, Major General Robin Lindsay CBE, and Lieutenant Colonel Rob Smith.
Great honour
Major General Lindsay said: “It is a great honour that our Deputy Colonel-in-Chief, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, has come to join us to mark this important occasion.
“Today we recognise the operational excellence of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland, and the significant contribution that the individuals of the battalion have made over a busy period.
“Contributing to the deterrent effect of NATO continues to be a high priority and the battalion has once again delivered exceptionally well. Having an opportunity to recognise the battalion with Her Royal Highness present is a real privilege for our soldiers and the wider regimental family.”
Captain Steven Damiani, Officer Commanding, 7 Platoon (Anti-Tanks) presented the Guard of Honour.
Special occasion
Her Royal Highness was then invited to present the General Service Medal and Wider Service Medal to members of the 3 SCOTS and following this introduced to serving personnel and their families.
Lieutenant Colonel Smith said: “After a busy, operationally focused year, it is a superb honour that Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal has been able to visit the battalion in her role as Deputy Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Regiment of Scotland.
“Her visit to the battalion marks the first such occasion as Deputy Colonel-in-Chief; a special occasion and one that we were able to also share with our families and veterans’ communities.”
3 SCOTS, who form part of the Land Special Operations Force, has this year delivered training to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and deployed to Kenya and Latvia (working with 4th Latvian Brigade).
