Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Munitions and Search

The Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Munitions and Search (DEMS) Training Regiment is based at St Georges Barracks in Bicester, Oxfordshire and Marlborough Barracks in Kineton, Warwickshire. The Regiment has the sole responsibility within Defence for training Army and Royal Navy personnel in the search, disposal, storage and safety techniques required to keep people safe from explosives. The Regiment is made up of 4 different Squadrons who are responsible for very different areas.

Munitions Squadron

Covers all areas of storing and transporting ammunition and explosives. They are also responsible for training all Army Ammunition Technicians and Ammunition Technical Officers who are the Army principle explosive engineers.

Search Squadron

Trains individuals from across the Army to clear areas and safely locate Explosive threats from routes and enemy locations on operations to buildings and sewer networks.

Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Disposal Squadron

Teaches Defence personnel to dispose of IEDs readying personnel for duties on the UK mainland and on operations around the world.

Conventional Munitions Disposal Squadron

Provide training to Army and Royal Navy personnel in the safe disposal of mines, booby traps and air dropped weapons. They also provide training in underwater EOD teaching Royal Navy divers how to deal with sea mines and other naval ordnance.
