Your Army in the North East & Yorkshire

4th Infantry Brigade & Headquarters North East are responsible everywhere from Berwick to South Yorkshire, The Pennines to the East Coast. Regardless of your organisation, your Army has something for you. Whether it is signing the Armed Forces Covenant, Skills Days in the community, Leadership Packages or Employer CPD, we work in partnership across society to deliver hands-on opportunities for all. The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise to all members of the Armed Forces Covenant, whether veteran or serving, that they will be treated fairly and not be disadvantage when trying to access private and public services.

4th Infantry Brigade work together with a variety of organisations in the region to ensure that the Armed Forces Community and their families are protected and supported.

Armed Forces Business Challenge

The Armed Forces Business Challenge is an event which welcomes teams from all organisations to take part in a series of team building and up-skilling activities. Units from the local area set up a variety of tasks which focus on key skills such as team building, leadership and communication, as well as some physically demanding challenges.

  • Multiple teams can be submitted.
  • Activities may vary.  

Catterick Garrison Visits

Local Gatekeepers are welcomed to join us for a ‘Day with Your Army’. Guests will visit several units within Catterick Garrison following the journey of a Soldier in Initial Training through to Education before visiting a Regular Unit (this is subject to change). Following that, they will visit the Career Transition Partnership who support Soldiers throughout their resettlement period and finally, a stop off at the Personal Recovery Unit, where they will learn about how the Army support Soldiers in their return to duty or transition to civilian life. 

Army Engagement Group

Army Engagement Presentations welcome gatekeepers from Local Authorities and organisations for an evening with the Army in your area. The Regional Headquarters, along with local Reserve units and Army Recruiting Group provide an insight into life in the Army, working together with your organisation to inform you of opportunities within the Army, but also how you can play your part in educating your employees, students etc. about a career in the Army.

The Army Youth Challenge Course

The Army Youth Challenge Course is an action packed day, providing a series of challenging activities for participants to complete and in doing so enhance  Problem Solving, Team Building, Leadership Skills, Personal Discipline and promotes Job Opportunities in the Army.

Day Courses are delivered during term time, pre Easter and October Half-Term holiday's.

Residential Courses are also delivered during term time the first week of July.

Schools Offer

The Brigade Regional Engagement Team (RET) routinely engage with schools throughout 4X AO. Their primary focus is on Team building skills workshops and Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM) activities. They also assist schools in their wider Careers Information and Guidance Programmes providing support to career events in order to inform and raise awareness on Army.

Armed Forces Skills Day

The Armed Forces Skills Day is an event which invites students from schools, colleges and apprenticeship programmes for an activity filled day with the British Army. Reserve Soldiers from local units provide an array of activities for participants to take part in, which focus on skills such as team building, leadership and communication.

The event also puts participants through some physically demanding activities such as assault courses.

Bradford Women Take Part in Army Led Event at York Barracks

4th Infantry Brigade welcomed the ladies of the Inspirational Women Foundation to Queen Elizabeth Barracks for a day with the Army. The women, who were of all age ranges, took part in a series of activities which challenged them to step outside their comfort zone. Activities included Paint-balling, Assault course and Indoor Laser Ranges. The ladies also received presentations from a variety of serving personnel including Medics and Personal Training Instructors who informed them of the variety of career paths within the British Army.

"We all learnt so much about the Army and a few of the women were even considering taking up Army jobs."

Army Combat Medical Technicians Teach Passing Shoppers Essential CPR

The Black Rats partnered with the Metrocentre and Great North Air Ambulance, to host a two-day free CPR & Defibrillator Training Event to teach passing shoppers the importance of being able to save a life. Combat Medical Technicians from 5 Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and 201 Field Hospital were in support to show just how essential these skills are.

"A few simple skills can help save a life, giving people the knowledge and confidence to stay calm in a medical emergency."
