152 Regiment

152 (North Irish) Regiment RLC is the only dedicated Bulk Fuel Transport and Storage Regiment in the British Army. Operating a fleet of Close Support Tankers and Unit Supply Tankers, the Regiment has the capability to store and distribute bulk fuel anywhere in the world.

The Regimental Headquarters is located at Palace Barracks, Holywood in Belfast.

The Regiment is organised into four squadrons:

  • 211 Tanker Squadron - Londonderry and Coleraine
  • 220 Tanker Squadron - Holywood, Belfast
  • 227 HQ Squadron - Holywood, Belfast
  • 400 Petroleum Operator Squadron - Holywood, Belfast

The Regiment is paired with the Regular Unit 9 Regiment RLC.

152 Regiment RLC is able to deploy soldiers from Troop strength down to individual crews in order to provide fuel capability to both Regular and Reserve Regiments. Additionally, we are able to provide individual augmentation to formation headquarters, delivering fuel expertise to commanders.

The Regiment operates two Bulk Fuel Transportation Platforms and can independently operate fuel installations. A Bulk Fuel Storage Installation has the ability to store 600,000 litres of fuel whilst our Petroleum Laboratory Technicians are able to test and assure fuel quality in austere environments. Our soldiers are trained to drive the Close Support Tanker and the Unit Supply Tanker, as well as being able to operate and maintain the platforms pumping capability.

The Regiment employs various trades from across the RLC, including:

We also employ Petroleum Laboratory Technicians and personnel from the Adjutant General’s Corps (AGC-SPS).
