We are paired with and work alongside our regular counterpart, 10 Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment RLC.
151 Regiment RLC provides a deployable warfighting capability an integral part of 101 Operational Sustainment Logistic Brigade (The Iron Vipers), which provides logistic support to 3 UK Armoured Division (The Iron Division). We provide logistical support, to the right people, at the right time.
The Regiment can proudly trace its origins and affiliations within the City of London back to 1801 and the formation of the Royal Wagon Train in Croydon.
Each year the regiment represents the RLC on the Lord Mayor of London’s Parade and provides personnel to control the marshalling of the 148 floats. Without them the parade would not be possible.
The regiment operates a fleet of MAN Support Vehicles (SV). The MAN SV is our ‘workhorse’ providing great mobility. It can be fitted with armour, communication equipment, and a top mounted machine gun for protection. Variants include 6, 9, and 15 Tonne Medium Mobility and Enhance Pallet Load System (EPLS).
After initial soldier training, our reservists carry out specialist driver training obtaining heavy goods vehicles and hazardous goods (ADR) licences. They are trained to maintain, drive and operate these vehicles in many different types of conditions, including the highly demanding environments they might expect to find on operations.
After initial soldier training, our reservists carry out specialist trade training in line with their chosen trade; driver, driver communication specialist, chef, human resources specialist, officer, or attached as a RAMS Combat Medical Technician.
Trade training example: Drivers will attend training obtaining heavy goods vehicles and hazardous goods (ADR) licences. They are trained to maintain, drive and operate these vehicles in many different types of conditions, including the highly demanding environments they might expect to find on operations.
Our soldiers are rich in diversity and come from a wide range of backgrounds, which represents today’s modern society. Trained as soldiers first, they move on to develop a wide range of skills, many of which are transferable into the civilian workplace. We recruit and train people for the following careers:
- Officer (Trained at The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst)
- Driver
- Driver Communication Specialist
- Chef
- RAMS-Combat Medical Technician
- Human Resources Specialist
Second Lieutenant Emily Fisher
I joined the Army Reserve because I wanted to benefit from the world class leadership training the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst offers and gain more fulfilment outside of my civilian work. Since commissioning, I have mobilised on exciting training exercises in the UK, Germany, and Poland. These experiences have increased my resilience, assertiveness and decision making, all transferrable skills to the civilian workplace.
Regimental life is enhanced with a vast array of Adventurous Training and Sporting opportunities. I have sailed in Cyprus, mountain biked in Germany and hiked in the Netherlands. At the end of my first year in the Regiment I organised for a team from the Regiment to participate in Biathlon and Nordic Skiing in Austria. I would highly recommend 151 Regt RLC to anyone who is interested in adventure, challenging themselves, and giving back to their community. You will gain many skills and have a lot of fun!

Corporal Finlay Booker
I joined the Army Reserves to meet new friends and gain new experiences. As a member of the RLC, there are a wide range of career opportunities available. Since joining, I have obtained my Large Goods Vehicle Cat C licence and Class 3 Driver trade qualification. I have met some amazing people and taken part in a wide range of activities, such as parachuting, abseiling and skiing. Driving large vehicles on and off road is exhilarating. The licence also comes in very handy giving you an extra employable skill. Not only is being in the reserves challenging and rewarding, it is also great fun.
