Private Irving
I have only been in 7 Regiment for one year, but I’ve already achieved a lot. As a Driver, my main role in camp is the maintenance of the Squadrons' vehicle fleet, but no two days are ever the same with the wide range of tasks we have to complete.
So far, I have had the chance to travel to Cyprus for an international running competition, to Norway to take part in the RLC Nordic Ski Championships and to Kenya to take Part in Exercise Askari Storm. Visiting these countries was really interesting and an opportunity that I wouldn’t have had outside of the Army.
For the last few months, I have been deployed on Operation Rescript helping to support the Government’s fight against Covid-19. This has been a really rewarding experience as I have been able to put my trade skills into practice helping people all over the country.
Staff Sergeant Stephenson
I joined 7 Regiment RLC in September 2019 as the 9 Squadron Operations Senior Non-Commisioned Officer (OPS SNCO) where I assisted the Squadron Operations Officer with the planning and execution of numerous training exercises. I have been fortunate to deploy on Exercise The Flag, a vital quad-lateral UAE, UK, US and French exercise in Abu Dhabi designed for Emeriti military.
In January, I travelled to South Africa as part of the RLC Corps Golf Tour, only 16 members of the team were selected to attend and to this date, it’s one of the best things I’ve done in my Army career.
Lieutenant Evans
I joined 7 Regiment RLC in April 2019 after completing the RLC Troop Commanders’ Course, taking command of C Troop, 9 Squadron. Whilst finding my feet as a new Troop Commander, I represented the Regiment in the Rugby Army Cup final. I also volunteered to be deployed to the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo (REMT) which saw 30 soldiers from the Regt deploy to serve as the REMT’s Guard of Honour, performing on an international stage for the duration of the month-long event.
I then returned to the helm of C Troop, where I became the Running Officer for the Regiment, representing 7 RLC in numerous running leagues. I was then selected for the RLC Corps Running team. I also organised Ex ORZEL ENDURANCE, where we deployed to compete in the gruelling Cyprus International - a four-day running challenge covering various terrains and distances.
Sporting Opportunities
The Regiment takes part in a wide array of sports and offers its personnel opportunities to get involved at every level, from beginner to expert. Some of the sports on offer include: boxing, rugby, football, shooting, cricket, swimming, running and golf.
The Regiment is also extremely keen to support and provide Adventurous Training (AT) opportunities. Recently, the Regiment has taken part in Nordic Skiing, Alpine Skiing, mountain biking, kayaking/canoeing, sailing and mountain climbing training.
