British Army Band Catterick is comprised of musicians from The Royal Corps of Army Music and is one of 14 Regular Army Bands in the British Army.
British Army Band Catterick, based in Catterick Garrison, is one of two Regular Army brass bands. The band was formed in 2019, bringing together musicians from the bands of The Royal Armoured Corps, The King’s Division and The Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
British Army Band Catterick provides a variety of musical ensembles in addition to its marching band capability, including brass quintets and a contemporary rock band.
The Royal Corps of Army Music can offer full time employment as a musician within the British Army. A pensionable career potentially to the age of 60. Fantastic travel opportunities with the chance to perform at great venues and events around the world.

Lance Corporal Amplett - Tenor Horn
Lance Corporal (LCpl) Adele Amplett was one of the first tenor horn players recruited at the start-up of the professional brass bands. Having enlisted into The Royal Corps of Army Music in 2015, she has served with The Band of The Royal Corps of Signals and British Army Band Catterick enjoying tours of Germany, Cyprus, Gibraltar and America.
Music was an integral part of LCpl Amplett's upbringing. She first learnt to play in her local brass band alongside her family, in Shropshire. She later moved to the North West where she studied the brass band course at the University of Salford, whilst joining more challenging bands and embracing the next level of contesting. She went on to major in brass band arranging and conducting and was tutored by the likes of Robin Dewhurst, Peter Graham, Sheona White and Brett Baker. Now, with continued professional development in Army Music, the opportunity to work with expert tutors of performance, orchestration and all musical fields is provided on a regular basis.
LCpl Amplett said, "My most memorable times have always been the instant when everyone's hard work and love of music falls into place, and in that moment, nothing comes close... Intense rehearsals on Philip Wilby's Revelation with The British Army Brass Band will always be one of those memories for me."
Military service runs through her family, with affiliations to; D Day landings, the 14th Army in Burma, and the Battle of Passchendaele. She explains, "I have been humbled to perform at a number of these commemorations, I never stop learning about their experiences. I feel continuously close to them and I'm proud to give back in the best way I know how."
As well as being a tenor horn player in British Army Band Catterick, LCpl Amplett also works in the band media team, enjoying photography and exploring the creative avenues that social media offers. In her spare time, she is a keen road cyclist and has competed in a number of British Army cycling events.
Joining a professional brass band in the Army has been a seamless step in my musical development.
