The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment

The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment (PWRR), also known as the Tigers, are a flexible, fighting Regiment – we thrive and deliver excellence on complex, tough operations. We are forward looking, yet fiercely proud of our forebear Regiments whose fighting spirit, values and traditions thrive in today’s Regiment.

The role of the infantry is to hold the ground and continue to take the fight forwards.  Our soldiers come from the South-East of England including London, Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Middlesex, The Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands.

As an infantry regiment, we are trained in dismounted close combat or fighting on foot (1 PWRR), specialised infantry trained to operate in small teams across the world (2 PWRR) and we are at the forefront of the Army Reserves equipped with the very latest equipment (3 and 4 PWRR).

The 2nd or Tangier Regiment of Foot mustered at Putney Heath on 14 October in order to garrison the Port of Tangiers, earning the British Army's oldest battle Honour 'Tangiers 1662-80'

Battle of Albuhera – The Buffs, 31st (East Surreys) and 57th (Middlesex)

Battle of Sobraon – 31st (East Surrey)

Battle of Salerno – Queen’s and Hampshire Brigades

Battle of Kohima – LCpl Harman wins the VC – QORWK
