Opportunities exist for anyone to pursue Adventurous Training to the highest level. Whether to summit Everest without oxygen, wreck dive off the coast of New Zealand, white-water kayak the Sjoa River in Norway or skiing first descents in Greenland.

Our team includes serving officers, soldiers and civil servants, all with considerable practical experience of leading and training service personnel on Adventurous Training expeditions all over the world.

Headquarters Army Adventurous Training Group, Upavon, Wiltshire

Our Headquarters is at Upavon in Wiltshire and we have many training centres around the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and N Ireland), Germany and Cyprus. Our servicemen and women also train independently of our training centres across the globe from the Arctic to the Himalayas.

Adventurous Training Activities

The Army participates in a broad range of outdoor activities, which include canoeing/kayaking, caving, freefall parachuting, gliding, mountaineering, mountain biking, offshore sailing, paragliding, skiing, and sub-aqua diving.
