World Youth Skills Day - 10th and 11th July 2020
The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst will be celebrating World Youth Skills Day 2020, a United Nations international celebration of the skills young people have.
We are inviting young people from uniformed youth organisations including the Scouts, Guides, Cadets and sports teams organisations to join us for a fun day of tasks and challenges designed to develop confidence, leadership and teamwork skills.
What is World Youth Skills Day?
Worldwide today, there are 1.2 billion young people aged 15 to 24 years, accounting for 16 per cent of the global population. However, young people are almost three times more likely to be unemployed than adults and continuously exposed to lower quality of jobs, greater labour market inequalities, and longer and more insecure school-to-work transitions. In addition, women are more likely to be underemployed and underpaid, and to undertake part-time jobs or work under temporary contracts.
The goal of World Youth Skills Day is to achieve better socio-economic conditions for today's youth, including addressing the challenges of unemployment and underemployment.
Here at The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, we aim to celebrate World Youth Skills Day by encouraging young people from all uniformed youth organisations to test their skills and gain new ones, challenge their own thinking and ideas, be part of a team, meet new people and try something they've never done before!
We celebrate The Royal Military Academy's adventurous spirit and commitment to youth leadership and teamwork, whilst supporting our aims to become the most diverse and inclusive organisation we are today.
