Chief of the General Staff
General Sir Mark Carleton-Smith was commissioned into 1st Battalion Irish Guards from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1986 and served at regimental duty in London, Germany, Canada and South Armagh, prior to service in The Gulf and The Balkans.
General Sir Mark Carleton-Smith took up the appointment of Chief of the General Staff in June 2018.

Army Sergeant Major
WO1 Carney joined the Army in January 1997. He has served on operations in Macedonia and Kosovo, Kenya, Jordan and Afghanistan.
In July 2021 he was appointed the Army Sergeant Major.
