Cadet Forces
11th Signal and West Midlands Brigade has under its command four Army Cadet Force (ACF) counties, with individual detachments in more than 100 locations, and a further 23 Combined Cadet Force (CCF) contingents.
These cadet forces are directly supported by the Brigade Headquarters located in Donnington together with the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association for the West Midlands, located in Tennal Grange, Birmingham.
Cadets undertake military style training via the Army Proficiency Certificate (APC) syllabus which includes training in Tactics, Shooting, Drill and Map Reading. Opportunities to participate in Adventurous Training, First Aid training and Community Engagement are also available. Whilst completing these activities cadets can enroll in Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC), a recognised vocational qualification scheme that offers a diploma in Public Services.
The Combined Cadet Force
CCF Contingents are set up in both State and Independent schools and are in some cases Tri Service in that they have Sea, Army and Air cadets. Although their training is Service based, they belong to the school with the Head Teacher being the Commanding Officer. In most cases the Head Teacher will delegate the responsibility for the day to day running of the contingent to a Contingent Commander; usually a member of the school teaching staff.
The Army Cadet Force
The ACF is a national voluntary youth organization located within the community that has a long and proud history of preparing young people from all backgrounds for life through the provision of a challenging, fun filled experience. The organization promotes both self-respect and respect for others, it develops cadets physically and mentally with emphasis being placed on teamwork and friendship.
Adult Instructors
The ACF offers the same opportunities to Adult Staff that enroll as well as providing a hugely rewarding experience and unquestionable service to local communities.
