Adaptable Force Brigade
4th Light Brigade Combat Team is a new, adaptable force brigade based in Yorkshire and the North East of England. This new formation comprises Regular and Reserve Army units that have the capability to carry out a wide range of missions.
'The Black Rats' are the lead light brigade in the newly formed Joint Expeditionary Force (Land), to provideĀ a scalable and widely employable non-standing force to suit niche or small to medium operations. This new formation is also capable of providing the core of a manoeuvre support brigade within a Vanguard division in a warfighting scenario.
The Brigade was established on 1 December 2014 and is headquartered in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire. In 2019 The Brigade Headquarters moved to new facilities at Bourlon Barracks.
