Based in the surroundings of "Fort Blockhouse", Gosport in Hampshire. 33 Field Hospital's role is to deliver and provide deployed hospital care in any environment.
To provide the equipment and cadre personnel in order to support contingent commitments at high readiness.
It is prominently manned by personnel from the Royal Army Medical Corps, but has Queen Alexander Royal Army Nursing Corps, Royal Army Dental Corps, Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers, Royal Logistic Corps and Adjutant Generals Corps within its ranks.
The unit completed operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Notably, in the latter, it provided Close Support (Combat Medical Technicians and Medical Officers) to front line battle groups and also clinical personnel to the Camp Bastion (UK) Role 3 (Field Hospital); all of which made up the Joint Forces Medical Group.
