203 Field Hospital is one of ten Army Reserve field hospitals which can provide up to 200 beds when fully manned. In terms of its geographical location, 203 is the Welsh field hospital recruiting solely from within the boundaries of Wales.
The Unit’s Regimental Headquarters is co-located with it's Headquarters Squadron in Llandaff, with other squadrons based in Swansea (A Squadron), Cwrt-y-Gollen (B Squadron) and Llandudno (C Squadron).
Members of the Unit have previously deployed on a number of operations including Iraq and Afghanistan.
203 (Welsh) Field Hospital’s antecedent unit, the 3rd Western General Hospital served in Flanders and also had teams working in Southampton and convalescence hospitals in Cardiff during the First World War. The General Hospital was subsequently disbanded in 1919 retaining a section located in Dumfries Place, Cardiff.
