HIVES are information centres for Forces personnel and their families. Aldergrove HIVE

Serving JHC Flying Station Aldergrove and Antrim.

Antrim is located in the heart of Northern Ireland at the northeast corner of Lough Neagh, the largest freshwater lake in the British Isles. An excellent road network gives easy access to the main tourism attractions throughout Northern Ireland. Antrim Borough is a scenically beautiful area with an abundance of forests, rivers, trails and woodlands. 

Aldergrove has many amenities including a gym, hobby centre, various sport and recreational clubs, swimming pool, cinema, library, interactive learning centre, hairdresser, coffee shop, Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes (NAAFI) bar and shop, launderette, gift shop, mess facilities and a full time nursery for children from 4 months to school age. The HIVE provides a free internet, fax and photocopying service.

Holywood HIVE

Serving Holywood.

Palace Barracks is within walking distance of the small community town of Holywood, providing small independent shops, boutiques in addition to supermarkets and chain stores.

Belfast is only a short drive providing large shopping centres and high street shops, as well as a wealth of entertainment venues.

The unit provides many amenities including a gym, swimming pool, and various sport and recreational clubs. There is also a learning centre for personnel and dependants, hairdresser, coffee shop, free internet service (in the HIVE) and a youth club. There is a parent and toddler group and a crèche and nursery school, all inside the barracks. There are the usual mess facilities and Holywood also has a families bar. The BFBS studio broadcasts daily to the Holywood area.
