Training Delivery

The Training Delivery structure as detailed is Commanded and administered via HQ Training Delivery under the appointment of SO1 Training Delivery (Chief Instructor).

110 Training Squadron

110 Training Squadron administer and manage the transition of all RLC vocational drivers from basic training (Phase 1) into their chosen career trade.  All soldiers on arrival at DST automatically become Phase 2 trainees and are assigned to 110 Trg Sqn until their driver training is completed whereupon they depart with a Cat C+E licence and military equivalent conversion, from there they will then be assigned to their Phase 3 regular unit.  The function of 110 Trg Sqn is to ensure students are managed through the driver training pipeline at the same time as maintaining their mandated basic soldier skills.  Additional management duties involve an extensive Duty of Care and stand down training programme which includes a variety of welfare briefs, cultural visits, participation in a variety of sports, adventure training and educational events, all of which are designed to maintain and enhance the soldiers all around development whilst maintaining their military ethos.

Military Driver Training Squadron (MDTS)

Not that dissimilar to 110 Sqn (RLC Phase 2 vocational driver specific only) albeit not as administratively heavy in terms of posted in and out. MDTS provide a similar role to Phase 2 and 3 soldiers from other services and cap badges (less RLC) but on a more transient basis. They provide administration and stand down training when soldiers are awaiting course pick up for driving training. They conduct Service Driver Conversion onto the MAN Support Vehicle thereby providing the platform for vocational and non-vocational drivers as necessary to progress onto the more specialist vehicles as required. In addition they deliver the combat phase of the Service Driver Conversion course to RLC vocational drivers as the final phase prior to the students being posted to their units.

Driver Training Squadron (DTS)

DTS provide the foundations and progressive Licence Acquisition (LA) training inclusive of theory training across the most common licence categories (Cat B, C, C+E, D and D1).

Contractor Distributed Training (CDT): In addition CDT is also centrally controlled and managed from this location to DST North (Leconfield and Catterick) and South (Deepcut, Minley, Blandford, Lyneham, Southwick Park, Larkhill, Middle Wallop, Worthy Down & Bovington) satellite locations via DST management staff at each site.  Providing CDT to vocational and non-vocational drivers to a variety of cap badges.  This is purely Licence Acquisition on Cat B to C+E in contractor vehicles and does not include Service Driver conversion onto Military equivalent assets as this will be conducted either at unit level or through MDTS at DST.

Specialist Training Squadron

Specialist Training Squadron deliver a wide range of specialist operator or instructor courses conducted to suit a variety of roles and operations such as:
