The welfare of all Phase 2 soldiers at 8 Trg Bn REME is the Commanding Officer’s top priority. There are a number of agencies to assist the Commanding Officer with providing the appropriate support for all soldiers. Many are located in the Battalion Welfare Village (within the barracks) while others are in easy reach within the Garrison.

Pastoral support

The Padre’s main role is the spiritual and moral welfare of all people in the Garrison. Multi-faith pastoral support is offered.

The Padre’s priority is the welfare of Phase 2 soldiers. Every member of the military community has the right of access to the Padre at all times.

Unit Welfare Officer and the Welfare team

The Unit Welfare Office team is sited within two sites across the Garrison. Firstly, in the Welfare Centre inside the camp and secondly, part of the Welfare team is located within the Community Centre just outside of the camp gates. The team helps to support soldiers and their families to work through any welfare concerns.

The welfare team is also well placed to offer outreach to other military and civilian welfare providers from the Citizen’s Advice Bureau to Service Families Housing Advice Office.

HIVE Information Centre

The HIVE Information Centre offers an extensive range of information on relocation, the local unit and nearby civilian facilities, local places of interest, schools and further education, housing, healthcare facilities, employment and training opportunities for soldiers and their families.
