4th Infantry Brigade and HQ North East

4th Infantry Brigade and Headquarters North East is a new adaptable force brigade based in Yorkshire and the North East.  This new formation comprises Regular and Army Reserve units who have the capability to carry out a wide range of missions.  The Brigade was established on 1 December 2014 and its headquartered in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire.

4th Infantry Brigade delivers operational effect and regional responsibilities across the North East of England and covers one of the largest regions in the UK. training and administering over 20,000 Regular and 6,000 Army Reserve soldiers.

Under its command are five Army Cadet Force (ACF) Counties and 16 Combined Cadet Force (CCF) Contingents comprising of over 8,500 young people and adults.  The region hosts two Garrison towns (York and Catterick), five training facilities (Infantry Training School at Catterick, Army Foundation College at Harrogate, Army Medical Service Training Centre and Army Training Unit (North) at Strensall, and Defence School of Transport at Leconfield), two major training areas (Catterick and Otterburn) and two University Officers Training Corps.

The Brigade has training, emergency planning and home defence roles. It also liaises with the emergency services and all the local authorities in the region.

The Brigade aims to provide advice and support to personnel about to settle within the Brigade area and offer advice for those about to leave service.

Yorkshire & North East Army Insight Course

Army Insight Course

The Brigade runs a series of free 3.5-day residential courses for those aged between 17 years and nine months to 35 years of age to see what life in the Army is all about and offer a possible future as a Regular or Reserve soldier.
