887 Signal Troop - Nottingham

A message from the Officer Commanding

“Our unit exists to provide robust communications to military and, in a domestic crisis, civil operations. We have done this in many theatres. As individuals in Afghanistan, Iraq, Cyprus, the Falkland Islands and the USA, supporting Regular forces and other Reserve units and as larger groups in high profile events at home such as the 2012 Olympic games, 2014 Commonwealth games, and several severe flooding crisis.

"Following the Royal Corps of Signals ethos of ‘Soldier First, then Signaller’ we are proud of our record in providing communications wherever and whenever required.”

887 Signal Troop is located on Triumph Road in Nottingham. Part of 64 Signal Squadron within 37 Signal Regiment, we are an Army Reserve Royal Signals unit. We provide data and voice communications to the Emergency Services as well as Local and National Government Agencies in times of national emergency, including:

  • Natural Disasters
  • Power Cuts
  • Acts of Terrorism
  • Strikes

The Squadron is at the cutting edge of the Army’s Communication Information Systems (CIS), and you will receive full training on all of our hi-tech kit. There are many opportunities to train around the world in places such as Cyprus, Italy, France and Gibraltar. You will also get leadership training and experience, driver training (including basic licence acquisition) and gain qualifications which are recognised in the civilian work place.

Like their Regular counterparts, Army Reserve Solders also get paid to undertake adventurous training activities such as skiing and sailing as well as competing in various sports.

The troop has a strong social scene, with many members meeting after training and with regular social events held throughout the year, helping to foster a strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork.
