265 Support Squadron

265 (Kent and County of London Yeomanry (SHARPSHOOTERS)) Support Squadron

Our role involves providing Information Communication Systems (ICS) and logistical support to the emergency services and to the local government in the even of an emergency.

About us

265 (Kent and County of London Yeomanry (SHARPSHOOTERS)) Support Squadron is collocated with RHQ 71st (City of London) Yeomanry Signal Regiment is based in Bexleyheath (Kent) and we provide Communications Information Systems and Logistical Support, in support or UK based Operations; where we can be called upon to provide communications infrastructure in a variety of situations at a moment’s notice.

The unit has been involved in various operations ranging from the Fire strikes, Ambulance drivers strikes, Floods, Olympics and Commonwealth Games, and the success of these operations was mainly down to the Reserve Forces personnel deployed from this Squadron

In addition to providing support to the emergency services and the local government the regiment also supports the operations with the regular army.


The Squadron can offer the following trades:

• Communications Systems Operator (Res) – (Royals Signals) - Operates up to date communications equipment and is the primary trade, this involves the
setting up and operation of radio equipment, satellite equipment, maintaining COMCEN’s, Operating VTC’s, setting up and monitoring military and civilian internet systems.

• Chefs (Royal Logistics Corps) - Chefs catering for the Squadron & Regiment on exercise and operations.

• Combat Medical Technician (CMT) – (Royal Army Medical Corps) - Providing medical assistance on Exercises / Operations
and teaching the officers and soldiers the basics and essentials of first aid on and off the battlefield

• Human Resource Specialists (Military Clerks) (Adjutant General Corps) ) - Clerks providing the Human Resource administration and pay for the Squadron & Regiment personnel.

Adventurous training and sport

There are ample of opportunities to gain Adventurous Training qualifications and participate in overseas expeditions.

The hard work is repaid through the opportunity to take part in Adventurous Training such as skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, parachuting and hill walking.

There are many opportunities to participate in varied sporting activities and members of the Squadron have played at Regimental and Corps level in Rugby, Football, Netball and Volleyball.

Joining the Army as an Army Reservist means that you do all your training and military duties in you spare time, it makes it possible to get many of the benefits of Army life and combine them with your civilian life and career.
