Who do we need?

We need individuals with transferable civilian skills who are looking for diverse engineering experiences both in the UK and abroad. You’ll work and train as part of a team developing life skills as well as your specialism. Whether you are working towards a qualification or you are an expert in your field, 170 Engr Gp can offer a new challenge.

170 Engr Gp recruits civilians, Regular service leavers and Reservists transferring from other units on a continuous basis. We will consider any individual who has a skill set that could be utilised by the Group in a broad range of fields including:

• Structural, civil, mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering
• Controls and instrumentation
• Programme and project managers
• Draughtsmen / AUTOCAD technicians
• Field and building surveyors
• Facilities managers
• Contract managers
• Quantity surveyors / estimators
• Knowledge / information managers
• Logisticians

Subject Matters Experts:

• Fuel, oil and gas
• Power
• Water
• Ports
• Railways
• Airfields
• Geology / geotechnical / construction materials

Your civilian qualifications and experience will be assessed and you will be awarded an equivalent military qualification which will give you the trade ‘Military Engineer Infrastructure’ (ME Infra). This trade is unique to 170 Engr Gp and can lead to accelerated career progression.

Regular Service Leavers / Ex-Regular

Regular service leavers and ex-Regular personnel may be entitled to a reduced commitment or financial incentives; 2013DIN01-095 gives more details:

• Retain military qualifications and rank if vacancies exist
• Receive the highest level bounty
• Reduced commitment 
        • Cannot be mobilised within 3 years of leaving Regular service 
        • Not required to attend annual training exercise 
        • Accrue 19 days of training over the year
• Financial incentives if you do not want a reduced commitment 
        • All ORs and DE Capt and below (below the age of 35) 
        • £10,000 over 4 payments in 4 years on top of pay and bounty if all training commitments and objectives are met
