158 Field Company are based in Keynsham Army Reserve Centre just outside Bristol, and have a detached Platoon in Bovington, Dorset. Both Army Reserve Centres in contain well-equipped trade training areas, gymnasium facilities, Junior Ranks Clubs and the Sergeants’, Warrant Officers’ and Officers’ mess which enable those that have worked hard to relax and socialise. As a member of 158 Field Company you will be trained and practiced in individual and team skills which will prepare you for a rewarding career as a member of the REME Reserve.

 Many of these skills will be transferrable to vocational trades and easily recognisable to the many supportive employers across the Battalion Area of Operations. In addition to gaining the qualification of trained soldier status, we will bring out your command, leadership and communication skills, while managing your chosen military trade training through a progressive career path. There are many opportunities for REME Reserve to serve with their regular army colleagues on operations and exercises across the globe. Furthermore, there are annual opportunities to deploy on exercise to Belize, Kenya, Canada and Cyprus. 158 Field Company is formed from men and women from a multitude of civilian employments in areas such as Bristol, Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset.

 We provide a friendly, welcoming and professional environment where you will be fully supported during your training and reserve career. Service as a Reserve Soldier will be challenging. You will serve as part of a fit, keen and motivated team of likeminded individuals. You will learn new skills and have lots of fun doing it, and you will be paid.


Our role


158 Field Company’s role is to carry out equipment support, maintenance, modification and repairs to all types of Army equipment. Our main aim is to 'keep the punch in the Army’s fist’; we achieve this by carrying out equipment support in a fast and efficient manner. We have the capabilities to supply an independent fully operational support team that can provide various levels of equipment support in all environments. As a modern Army Reserve unit we also provide soldiers to the regular Army for operational tours and full time reserve service tours where necessary.
