Future Accommodation Model

What you need to know

The Ministry of Defence is looking at how it can improve the accommodation offer for service personnel, to make it fairer, and more flexible, whilst keeping it affordable for the MOD.

The Future Accommodation Model (FAM) will apply to personnel with families and those without, whether they are single, in a relationship or married. It will apply to all regular service personnel and full time reserve service (full commitment) assigned to or at FAM pilot locations, with four or more years service.

The FAM pilot is being developed to help the MOD understand how personnel will choose to live in the future. The pilot will also allow the MOD to identify and address any issues with the policy before a decision is then made about whether to roll it out across the UK. The pilot location for the Army is Aldershot, and is due to go live there on 31 January 2020. The Aldershot pilot is due to end in mid 2022.
