This service was set up by the MOD in partnership with Health Assured and offers civilian and military personnel a safe space to discuss their experiences, with anonymity if required, and outside their chain of command or line management chain. Establishing the ‘Defence BHD helpline’ was one of the key recommendations of Air Chief Marshal Wigston’s review aimed at tackling unacceptable behaviour across Defence.
The Army and Defence are committed to developing an organisational culture where people’s differences are actively valued and included. And, we are committed to ensuring that those experiencing or witnessing bullying, harassment or unlawful discrimination know how to report it and are aware of the support available to them.
The Army will continue to run its own “Speak Out” helpline alongside this new Defence service, which operates 24/7/365 with core hours from 09:00 – 19:00 weekdays and an out of hours counselling and call back service.
