Last night, at Prince Consort's Library in Aldershot, Dr Jonathan Boff of the University of Birmingham was presented with the British Army Military Book of the Year 2019 by the Commander Field Army, Lieutenant General Ivan Jones CB.
Dr Boff's acclaimed and prize-winning book, 'Haig's Enemy: Crown Prince Rupprecht and Germany's War on the Western Front' was shortlisted for the Prize in March 2019 alongside six other books including works by Lord Ashcroft, Sir Anthony Beevor, and Sir Max Hastings. The Runner-up was Dr David Patrikarakos with his book, 'War in 140 Characters: How Social media is Reshaping Conflict in the 21st Century'.
Dr Boff spoke to a packed Library on the subject, 'Lessons for the British Army of Today from the First World War', the fiftieth Talk in the 'War Talks' series. On presenting the trophy to Dr Boff, Lieutenant General Jones said,"
The British Army Military Book of the Year Competition 2020 will open later this week with a call for suggestions for the Long List and a trawl for judges.
