Operation TOSCA is the British contribution to one of the United Nations longest running peacekeeping missions and has been in place in Cyprus since 1974.The Regiment recently returned to their home in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, following their six-month deployment.
The Band of the Mercian Regiment lifted the damp air with music as the Gunners marched onto the Parade Square. Hundreds of supporters turned out to watch the Regiment as they were presented with medals, which for many, was their first.
Brigadier Mark Pullan, Commander 1st Artillery Brigade addressed the crowd after the medal presentation. He praised the Regiment for a successful and professional operation but gave special thanks and recognition to the family and friends who consistently supported their loved ones whilst on deployment.
