The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2019

Pipers, drummers and musicians from across the Army in Scotland, and beyond, take part in one of the biggest military shows in the UK – The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

The Tattoo is synonymous with military music. The British Army provides the world class musicians often featuring The Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland, along with Pipes and Drums of the 1st, 2nd and 4th Battalions of The Royal Regiment of Scotland (1, 2 and 4 SCOTS), The Royal Dragoon Guards, The Queen’s Royal Hussars and the Scots Guards.

The Pipers and Drummers are soldiers first and foremost and have been deployed on exercises, operations and training missions all over the UK and further afield, 4 SCOTS recently supported Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, dealing with wildfires on Saddleworth Moor, 2 SCOTS are home after serving on Operations in Iraq, Cyprus and South Sudan and 1 SCOTS have provided Short Term Training Teams to Malawi and soldiers to train in Specialised Infantry skills in Belize.

The full-time musicians of The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS Band) completed a Scotland-wide tour, in support of Poppy Scotland entitled ‘Walking with Heroes’, before launching into a hectic ceremonial season with Royal Gun Salutes, Her Majesty The Queen’s week of Scottish Engagements known as Holyrood Week and a three-week deployment on public duties at Buckingham Palace with 5 SCOTS.
