12 Medical Squadron

12 Sqn is the Regular Medical Support Squadron belonging to 3 Medical Regiment, based in Fulwood Barracks, Preston, Lancashire. It comprises of a range of medical-orientated trades and personalities and regularly deploys personnel to many parts of the world, from supporting multi-national training Exercises and Operations, to assisting with humanitarian disasters.

12 Medical Squadron can trace its identity back to 12 Field Ambulance, where it delivered medical support to 12 Brigade on the Western Front during the Great War. The newly-raised Medical Squadron was based in Swanton Morley, Norfolk and became operational in 2001. During its short history, the Squadron deployed on operations in the Balkans and Iraq on Operation TELIC 2, 6 and 12. In August 2009, it finally joined 3 Medical Regiment, now based in Fulwood Barracks, Preston, Lancashire.

12 Medical Squadron is the deployable sub unit within the Regiment and provides medical capabilities to formations and exercises in Germany, Kenya and others in the UK. The Squadron was also committed to several tours of Afghanistan in support of Op HERRICK.
