How to Apply

OUR RECRUITING PROCESS

77th Brigade conducts a comprehensive and robust selection process that enables us to match the skills and experience of applicants to the roles and requirements that we deliver in support of kinetic and non-kinetic operational outputs.

Regular Officer or Soldier

We have a wide range of interesting and different roles including various operational deployment opportunities for all ranks from Private to Lieutenant Colonel. Regular Officers and Soldiers must attend a Brigade visitors’ day prior to applying for roles through their posting preference proforma. Some particular posts are also subject to a suitability assessment. Email the 77th Brigade Recruiting Team for further details on visitors’ days, assessments and job roles.

Your application to join the Brigade will be managed through your RCMO or Desk Officer at APC and will require you submitting CV/PPP through the normal process.

Regular Officers and Soldiers planning to leave full time service and become a Reservist must follow the Reservist application process below.

Current Reservists

We have a wide range of diverse and interesting roles including operational deployment opportunities for ranks from LCpl to Lieutenant Colonel, including limited other service equivalents. Your employment in 77th Brigade is based on your current skills and knowledge.

To apply send a CV (in any style, military or civilian), together with a Brigade application form to the Recruiting and Engagement Team. Applications are subject to a two stage sift process and if successful we will invite you to an assessment day.

If selected at an assessment day, you will be invited to assign to 77th Brigade for up to three years, which can be extended subject to Army Regulations. At the end of the assignment period you return to your parent unit or assign elsewhere.

Civilians

If you aspire to join the Brigade, you will need to become an Army Reservist or Special Reservist where you will have all the advantages of service in the British Army but you will also be subject to military law and its restrictions.

To apply send us your CV and a Brigade application form to the Recruiting and Engagement Team. You must also register an online application with the Army National Recruiting Centre here. Applications are subject to a two stage sift process and if successful we will invite you to an assessment day.

If selected at an assessment day, you will be invited to join 77th Brigade as a Special Reservist for up to three years, which can be extended subject to Army Regulations.

The assessments enable us to match the skills and experience of potential applicants to the roles and requirements we deliver and select suitable individuals who may have skills the Brigade needs to operate in the future.

Briefing and assessment is a full day event comprising:

  • Briefing presentations that will explain more about the Brigade and what we do.
  • An individual discussion to provide further guidance on the various routes into the Brigade and outline Terms and Conditions.
  • A collaborative syndicate exercise working with other candidates, using their particular skillset to contribute to a solution to a given scenario.
  • An individual interview with a small panel of generalist and subject matter experts (SME) to assess your knowledge, skills and experience in order to gauge suitability for a role in the Brigade.

  • Study of individuals approach to problems with unorthodox solutions

  • Opportunity to offer a personalised view of what they can bring to the Brigade
  • Interviews

Before attendance at an assessment you will be sent full joining instructions. No prior preparation is necessary.

Current Reservists and civilians will be notified of the result within three working days after the assessment.

Acceptance does not automatically select you for a place in the Brigade.

Civilians must undergo formal recruitment by the Army National Recruiting Centre subject to standard recruiting regulations.

Civilians will either be encouraged to apply to join the Army as a Reservist or Specialist Reservist. Specialist Reservists are restricted to employment only in 77th Brigade and not the wider Army.

Reservists may be offered roles in the Brigade on an E2 assignment away from their parent unit or via APC selection board processes. Assignment will be subject to the agreement of their parent unit.
