Join as a reservist

To join, you need to be aged between 18-34 years (increased to 44 if you've had previous service) and be a UK resident. The minimum yearly commitment is 9 weekends, 2 week Annual Camp (or career course) and a few weekday training nights. There are excellent rates of pay, which is non taxable if you're a student, and an annual 'tax free' bounty (subject to qualification) of over £1,650 in the fourth year. Your employer may also give you special leave over and above your normal annual entitlement.

When you contact us, you will be invited along to one of our locations for an interview with one of our Recruitment Team. When you decide to join we can assist you to complete the On-line Registration and subsequent Enlistment Forms. Once these have been completed you'll be sent a Medical Form for your GP to complete. Once this has been returned you'll be given a date for you to attend a medical examination and fitness test. This is generally done over a weekend. Once your application has been accepted we will invite you back to be sworn in as a member of the Reserve Forces. You will then be loaded onto the next available Recruit Training Course. We usually run two of theses courses per year. This is where the hard work begins, to earn your coveted "Red Beret".

To ensure that your application is dealt with efficiently we'd advise you to stay in touch with our Recruitments Teams. They will be able to follow up your application and liaise directly with the appropriate administrators. NB. The application process can take up to 6 months or in some cases more.
