3rd Battalion - The Steelbacks

The 3rd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment (The STEELBACKS) is an Army Reserve Infantry Battalion. In line with the Army 2020 concept we work closely alongside our Regular Army counterparts, both in training and on operations.

The Steelbacks

The Steelbacks are one of the most operationally experienced units within the Army Reserve, with soldiers having deployed on operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, Cyprus (UN) and in support of the Olympic Games over recent years.

We also have a role to play in National Defence and providing aid to civilian authorities. The Battalion is always looking to recruit people to fill the following jobs: Rifleman, Support Weapons specialist, Driver, Signaller, Medic, Vehicle Mechanic, Chef and Clerks.

As a leader in the Regiment you must have the intellectual capacity to plan operations under pressure and have the robust mental and physical attributes to see them through to a successful conclusion.

As equipment becomes more sophisticated the demand for soldiers with quick wits is greater than ever. Our Regiment is famous for soldiers with a team spirit based on mutual respect and trust.
