Letter from Brig Gen Charles Stewart Davies to William Bassett, dated 24 Mar 1919. In response to William Bassett’s letter, offering to try and trace a Pte Bowen in Australia, who was thought to have Pte Leslie Bassett’s wallet in his possession.Associated with World War One, Peace (1914-1918).From a collection of 82 letters, cuttings and maps related to the service and death of Pte Leslie ‘Jack’ Bassett, serving with the 32nd Bn Australian Infantry Force in France during World War One (1914-1918). Bassett was born in London and emigrated to Australia, where he enlisted, and was batman to Brig Gen C S Davies, Bassett died in Harefield Hospital on 10 Jan 1919 of a weak heart.
