A large number of Austrian prisoners of war behind barbed wire with British guards intermingling, Italy, nd, 1918 (c). The figures with fezs in the foreground may be Bosnian or another Balkan subject group. From 34 photographs and one postcard collected by Lt Col John Fillis CarrĂ© Carter whilst serving in British Army Intelligence in Rome, during the Italian campaign, 1917-1918. Most of them appear to be official in origin. Associated with the British Army and the Austrian Army and World War One, Italy (1914-1918). Stamped on reverse: ‘Printed by the Photographic Section A.P. & S.S., Italy’.
