Clubs and Associations

A huge range of competitive sports are played in the Army and competitions and events take place all over the world.

Army sportThe Army Sport Control Board manages 45 separate sports associations and unions, each of which operates under its own charter and has a direct link to its respective National Governing Body (NGB).

Army sports associations and unions are responsible for conducting their sports activities, competitions and leagues under NGB rules’.

Tours and visits

Overseas tours or visits are undertaken by an individual or by unit, corps and Army teams.

Such tours give the opportunity to compete against opposition of a different culture and in many cases train and compete in challenging conditions.

In the last 12 months, individuals have competed in Holland, France, Morocco, Antarctica, USA and Egypt. Army, corps and unit teams have competed in a range of sports in USA, Portugal, Brazil, South Africa, Barbados, Canada, Philippines, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and Spain.
