Captain Nicol AAC

Captain Murray Nicol AACCaptain Murray Nicol commenced his flying career in 1996, joining the Army Air Corps as a Sergeant pilot. He served at front line in Northern Ireland and Wattisham, flying the Gazelle aircraft, completing tours of Bosnia and Kosovo and Operation TELIC 1 in Iraq. He was selected for Qualified Helicopter Instructor (QHI) training following which he taught new recruits on the Army Pilot Course at Middle Wallop.

Captain Nichol was subsequently selected for Apache training and in 2007 returned to Wattisham to take up the appointment of 662 Sqn AAC QHI. He gained a Late Entry Commission in 2010 and moved to the Regimental QHI Department where also became an Apache Weapons Instructor. Captain Nichol has completed three tours on Operation HERRICK, Afghanistan and has been awarded the General Officer Commanding commendation for service in this theatre of operations.

Captain Nicol is the Officer Commanding the Attack Helicopter Display Team for 2014.
