Corps Affiliations

The Army Air Corps has the following affiliations:

HMS Ocean (L12) - HMS Ocean is an amphibious assault ship or landing platform helicopter. She was laid down at Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering Ltd, Kvaerner (Govan) on 30 May 1994, launched on 11 October 1995 and commissioned on 30 September 1998. This affiliation is a bond of friendship though 4 Regiment Army Air Corps.

4 (Army Co-Operation) Squadron Royal Air Force - This affiliation is through 4 Regiment Army Air Corps.

Australian Army Aviation Corps - This affiliation was formed on 1 July 1968.

Historical Affiliation - HMS Chatham

HMS Chatham (F87), laid down at Swan Hunter Shipbuilders Ltd on 12 May 1986 was a Type 22 frigate. She was launched on 20 January 1988, commissioned on 4 May 1990 and was the seventh Royal Navy ship to bear the name. The affiliation with the AAC was forged in 2002 and ceased on 8 February 2011 when the ship was decommissioned at HM Naval Base, Devonport.

Historical Affiliation - HMS Grafton

HMS Grafton (F80), laid down at Yarrow Shipbuilders on 13 May 1993 was a Type 23 frigate. She was launched on 5 November 1994 and commissioned on 29 May 1997. This affiliation, through 4 Regiment Army Air Corps, ceased on 31 March 2006 when the ship was decommissioned. HMS Grafton was subsequently sold to Chile, renamed Almirante Lynch (FF-07) and commissioned by the Chilean Navy on 28 March 2007.

Historical Affiliation - HMS Coventry

HMS Coventry (F98), laid down at Swan Hunter on 29 March 1984 was a Type 22 frigate. She was launched on 8 April 1986 and commissioned on 14 October 1988. The affiliaition with the Army Air Corps ceased on 17 January 2002 when the ship was decommissioned. HMS Coventry was subsequently sold to Romania, renamed Regele Ferdinand and commissioned by the Romanian Navy on 9 September 2004.
