Career - Reserve

As a member of 6 Regiment Army Air Corps you will be trained as ground crew, providing individual reinforcements for operations and in support of exercises worldwide. This provides an excellent opportunity for those considering leaving full time service to keep the best parts of being military and also have a civilian career.

We are recruiting

6 Regiment Army Air Corps are looking for people who are interested in training in the following skills areas:

  • Re-arming and re-fuelling
  • Command post operations and signals
  • Driving
  • Logistics (chefs and supply)
  • Clerical and medical

If you are a former member of the Regular Army we would be delighted if you joined us to help with the development of the nation's next generation of reserve soldier. Dependent on how long you have been retired for you may be able to retain your rank and trade qualifications. Please contact us for more information. The RHQ and Support Squadron are based at Bury St Edmunds with the Squadron Headquarters of 677 (Suffolk and Norfolk Yeomanry) Squadron - the latter also has Flights located at Bury St Edmunds, Norwich and Ipswich.

Medical Requirements

Medical entry standards for AAC Reserves list an eyesight standard of 7/1 7/3.

The average commitment is 27 to 45 days per year made up of the components listed below:

  • Two drill nights per month lasting around two and a half hours
  • Six two-day training weekends and
  • One continuous annual camp or course lasting fifteen days

A good remuneration package is available and this can be explained on request. When you are not undertaking military training there are good opportunities to participate in sport and adventurous training.
