Gov.uk Information on FAMWhat is the Future Accommodation Model?
The Future Accommodation Model (FAM) pilot gives more choice to more Service personnel over where, how and with who they live. Under FAM, Service personnel can still select Single Living Accommodation (SLA) or Service Family Accommodation (SFA), but they can also choose to live in private rental sector or buy their own home.
A three-year FAM pilot is currently in progress at three sites: HMNB Clyde, Aldershot Garrison and RAF Wittering. Amongst its benefits, FAM allows couples in long term established relationships to have the same accommodation options as those who are married or in civil partnerships. It also supports those parents who have their children over 80 nights per calendar year with subsidised Service Family Accommodation.
