Sport and adventurous training

The Regiment competes in a large range of sports and takes part in a variety of adventurous training exercises.

The Regiment was the British Army Germany 7s champions and one of the best rugby teams in the Army. In October 2014 it was announced that a serving member of the regiment Semesa Rokoduguni, who plays for Bath has been selected for the England Rugby Squad.

The Regiment has a strong tradition in Winter Sports, particularly with Alpine Skiing. The Army Freestyle Ski Champion is a serving officer in the Regiment and we consistently punch above our weight in the Army Championships.

The Regiment has recently won prizes in the Army Nordic Ski championships and sends a team to St Moritz to compete down the Cresta Run each year.

The Regiment has had a history of participating in sailing from when Officers of the regiment sailed with Tsar Nicohlas the second in Cowes. Sailing expeditions are run usually twice a year, both in the UK and abroad.

A former Commanding Officer and Colonel of the Regiment kindly hosts the soldiers and officers for two weeks stalking in the highlands each year. This provides the Regiment with an excellent opportunity to spend time at home in Scotland and practice some fundamentals of soldiering.

Other sports

The Regiment regularly sends soldiers away on mountaineering expeditions and competes in every major sport the Army has to offer including Football, Hockey and Polo.
