Colchester - Chavasse VC House
Chavasse VC House is an Army-led Personnel Recovery Centre opened since April 2012. Help for Heroes runs the centre, providing the day-to-day services needed, including front-of-house, facilities management, catering and operational management. Facilities and services are open to WIS veterans on a case-by-case basis.
Chavasse VC House is a new-build centre within the garrison at Colchester, with residential accommodation for up to 29 personnel and a further 30 day attendees.
Facilities and services are also open to veterans on a needs basis. These include: accommodation, classrooms, a state of the art fitness centre, family rooms and social areas. There is also a Support Hub housing a collection of welfare agencies and charities to offer advice and support.
Operating costs are funded by Help for Heroes with a significant contribution from their principle partner, The Royal British Legion.
Chavasse VC House is named after Captain Noel Chavasse VC and Bar, MC, a medical officer who died during the First World War.
