Pre-arrival information

It's essential that recruits arrive at ITC Catterick properly equipped, fully prepared and ready to begin their training.

This page details all the things that recruits need to bring with them.

A selection of items are listed below, while on the right a complete list can be downloaded. We suggest that recruits print out the list and tick items off as they are packed.

Important Documents

Completion of paperwork and identity checks are very important parts of the induction process. A range of documents are required, including passport, birth certificate and both parts of a driving licence. Bank account details are also needed.

Padlocks

Storage lockers are allocated on arrival. Recruits need to bring five padlocks with them, to keep their belongings secure. Padlocks are sold in the shops at ITC Catterick, but they often sell out and so it's not a good idea to rely on them being available!

Writing Paper

A mobile phone is the best way to stay in touch with family and friends, but recruits should also bring pens, paper and envelopes so that they can write too. Letters can be more private than phone calls.

Important Addresses

Recruits need to tell us their full permanent home address and phone number so that we can contact during periods of leave. We also need recruits to bring their next of kin and emergency contact details.

Clothing

Soldiers under training off duty are still representatives of the Army, so recruits need to bring some smart casual clothes that they can wear when they go off camp.

Cash

Recruits must bring £75 cash with them, to pay for anything they might need to buy. A bank account is also needed so that they can be paid.

Iron

Uniforms must be extra smart, so recruits need a good, heavy, steam iron. Having one will typically cut ironing time in half!

Checklist

We suggest that all recruits coming to ITC Catterick print out the checklist on the right, and tick off items as they are packed.
