This section tells you all about the different types and levels of training within the Army, from the moment you join and carry out Phase 1 training, to learning a Trade and Phase 2 training, to upgrading your skills with Phase 3 training

Soldier Initial (Phase 1) Training
All soldier recruits undergo initial (Phase 1) training. Infantry recruits are trained at Catterick in North Yorkshire and all others at either Pirbright, Winchester or Harrogate.

Trade (Phase 2/3) Training
Trade Training can come in many forms from fixing attack helicopters, to building bridges (or blowing them up!) and from driving vehicles such as a Challenger Tank, to driving or firing the AS90 self propelled gun.

Officer Initial Training
Officer Initial Training takes place at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. This world renowned institution takes young men and women and turns them into the leaders of the British Army.

Territorial and Reserves Training
All TA soldiers complete basic training. It teaches you everything you need to know to become an effective soldier and to fulfil your role within the TA. Once you've completed your basic training, you will move on to do whatever trade training is necessary for your role in the TA.

Resettlement Training
Depending on the amount of time you serve, when you leave the Army you will receive time and money for further training to prepare you for the rest of your life outside the Army.
